Shoe Challenge: Slingbacks

Day 27 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

I'm not the only one who feels more productive and on top of things when dressed up, am I?

Nothing I love more than pretty sheath dresses and even prettier shoes on gloomy Mondays.

Especially these pretty slingbacks.

Shoe Challenge: Weekly Wrap Up 4

Complete: Week 4 of the Shoe Challenge. Read more about it here.

The 7 pairs of shoes from this week, although since two are getting trashed, I really only wore 5 pairs.

I love the Diba brown platforms, but I think I best liked the gladiator sandals this week:

Passing again. These are just like these shoes, only black suede. They look awful, because I didn't get the heels tipped when I should have, and just shredded the stiletto. Trash!

Oh yuck.

Shoes: Jessica Simpson Henri.

Shoe Challege: Blue Rosettes

Day 25 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

I've had this yellow sundress for years, and I wear it all the time. Its such a fun fabric and length.

I like the way it looks with turquoise - the beads, and the sandals. These shoes actually belong to my friend Sarah, but since I've failed returning them for over a year now (they were my "something blue" at my wedding) I figured they counted for this challenge.

I love the giant rosettes at the toes.

Shoe Challenge: Platforms

Day 24 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

These jeans are super long, and I'm too lazy to hem them, so I try to always wear them with these heels, which have a pretty rad platform.

They also perfectly match this shirt.

I love the detailing at the neck.

Bam! Now that's a platform.

Like this post, these shoes are another example of something I bought because I loved, and turned out to be a Yves Saint Laurent knockoff. In this case, the Tribute:

Shoe Challenge: Pass

Day 23 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

Came home to find the dogs ate one of my favorite go-to pairs of shoes - Jessica Simpson Henri in black leather. Little jerks. So, using a pass, since I have to throw them away now.

They couldn't have stopped at the inside, had to chew the backs also. Sigh.

Shoe Challenge: Black sandals

Day 22 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

I *gasp* wore a duplicate pair of shoes to work today, so to be fair, I changed before going grocery shopping into a plain black maxi dress and plain black flip flops.

I love this purple clutch - fits in the baby seat of the shopping cart, and big enough to hold my coupons, shopping list and wallet.

Not sure why this picture is so blurry, but whatever, they're black flip flops.

Shoe Challenge: Brown Gladiators

Day 21 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

Brown dress, brown cardigan to make it more work appropriate...boring boring. Added gold hoop earrings and snazzy brown gladiator sandals for a little pop.

These sandals are SO comfortable. My go-to shoes for anything that involves a lot of walking. God I need a pedicure. I say that a lot...I need to just do it.

Tackle it Tuesday - Study Design

I found this blog post by blogger 5 Minutes for Mom and love the idea - taking time once a week to tackle or organize some part of my life to make it simpler.

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

This week, I didn't exactly do anything to our home. Tyler and I have been talking about how to decorate our study once we have the custom built in wall unit installed. We have all the furniture and designs for that picked out, but now needed to figure out the rest. We have very different styles, so to agree on something was very exciting!

This is the first room that you see when you come in, so I wanted it to really stand out.

The study will have a tone-on-tone gray damask wall paper, with white two-piece crown molding and a light gray ceiling. Tyler doesn't quite understand why we are painting the ceiling, but after seeing how it looks in our bathroom remodel, it really makes the molding POP!

We know we want a dark wood ceiling fan, and love the idea of a white ceiling medallion to mimic the patterns in the damask wallpaper.

We also will do dark wood plantation shutters with white velvet drapes, rip out the current boring baseboards and put in taller ones, and accent with a dark leather desk chair, and arm chairs. We'll also be installing white french doors going into the room. A better mock up to come later!

Shoe Challenge: Jackie O?

Day 20 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

A bit hungover - the worst way to start a Monday. I need flats and an easy outfit. This was ironed and hanging in my closet, so it won by default.

Update: Kasmira from What I Wore Today wore these same shoes :)

These flats were in a pile of shoes and clothes that my best friend Malia was getting rid of, and so I scooped them up.

Dress: The Limited. Houndstooth swing coat: Macys. Flats: American Eagle.

Shoe Challenge: Weekly Wrap Up 3

Complete: Week 3 of the Shoe Challenge. Read more about it here.

The 7 pairs of shoes I wore for this challenge! PS, please forgive the state of the black pointy pumps. I unfortunately have a lot of shoes like that from when Kimchi was housetraining - she ate the insides right out! Needless to say, there are certain shoes I don't wear out if I think I'll need to take them off at any point =P

While the purple pumps are my favorite shoes of this batch, I love this look the best:

What was your favorite look?

Casual Sunday - nothing more perfect than a maxi dress and flat sandals.

I've had these for years, and they still are cute.

My Redskins are playing the Steelers today, so had to break out the Burgundy and Gold!

Burgundy and white Pumas made for an easy weekend outfit. Its hard work cheering on our boys.

Shoe Challenge: Classic Pumps

Day 17 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

You've seen this dress before here, but I decided to tone it down a bit for work since I have to pick up some documents from a client. I added a long black cardigan and skinny black belt.

I've had these black, suede, pointy toe heels forever, and they're super comfortable. I consider suede a Fall/Winter fabric, but again, that whole pushing my boundaries thing :)

Shoe Challenge: Sparkle!

Day 16 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

Meetings today called for a pretty sheath dress, and I decided to dress it up with these black silk pumps with rhinestones that I normally wear to winter holiday parties. But because I consider myself a little bit of a princess :) it works! I also pulled out my hot rollers to add some bounce to my hair.

This dress is definitely one of my favorites. It is so comfortable, flattering, and feminine.

And yep, normally I'd find these shoes too fancy for work and would go with basic black pumps, but I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone - I loved looked down today and seeing a little sparkle!

Dress: Mossimo. Pumps: DSW.

Shoe Challenge: Tiffanys

Day 15 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

I need to run errands after work today, so opted for flats. To pull together the silver flats, I added this silver bow belt, my favorite silver ball studs, and David Yurman bracelet. I feel like an ad for Tiffany's! Blue and white, silver and bows, ha!

I've been meaning to go pick up a pair of these flats in another color. I love the shape of them.

And I LOVE this belt. I like how its metal all the way around, and is such a feminine detail!

Shoe Challenge: Dark Purple

Day 14 of the Shoe Challenge, where Tyler has challenged me to wear a new pair of shoes everyday, or else walk the plank get rid of them. Read more about it here.

Meeting with clients today, and trying to get as much use out of my white pencil skirt before Labor Day.

I love the way it looks with this dark purple ruffled shirt and matching pumps. Coincidentally, even my laptop bag matches!

These are one of my favorite pairs of pumps - I love that they will transition with me through Fall and Winter - thats what I call a good investment!

Tackle it Tuesday - Powder Room

I found this blog post by blogger 5 Minutes for Mom and love the idea - taking time once a week to tackle or organize some part of my life to make it simpler.

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

This week, I finally finished accessorizing our powder room bathroom! I absolutely LOVE the way it looks, and it is such a good feeling to finally have one room in the whole house done!

As a VERY generous wedding gift, our aunt came in and did the faux painting for us on both the walls, and the ceiling. I adore the texture.

Tyler installed all of the oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, as well as hung the mirror, pictures and fleur de lis for me. Its so nice having such a cute little handy man around :)

New oil-rubbed bronze flusher (I actually installed this myself!) toilet paper holder, trashcan, and cylinder to hold extra toilet paper.

Above the toilet, I hung two pictures of Tyler and I on our wedding day, both next to a gorgeous column on the outside patio.

In this picture, you can also see the white crown molding, and the soft gold painted ceiling.

The Fleur de Lis wall art was the missing link that we needed for this room. I'd looked high and low for something to put on this wall, and found this at Pier 1. It is exactly what this room needed.

With the new, oil-rubbed bronze sink faucet, there was no longer enough room for a soap pump on the sink. I found this pretty wall-mounted bronze and glass soap dish, and I think it goes perfectly!

The light fixture makes everything have a pretty amber glow.

A close up to show the gorgeous texture on the walls.

Storage is always an issue in a powder room with a pedestal sink. So, I found this pretty, dark wood box, and filled it with hygiene products, lotion, extra bars of soap, etc.

I love my new powder room! Finally, one room in the entire house is done!
