OOTD: Emerald green

My favorite posts to write are letters to Guinevere, and outfit of the day posts.  So when I bought this bright green jacket (ahem, emerald - aka Pantone color of the year), I knew I wanted to post pictures.  I have dozens of combinations in my head for wearing this come Spring, but for a dreary and rainy February day in DC, basic black seemed appropriate.

No access to a photographer (husband is working late on my birthday - sad face) and hesitant to set my tripod up outside in its normal location, I went to the driveway with my camera safe in the garage.  So it stayed nice and dry, and I made sure to rapid fire shoot these before heading off to get Guinevere from daycare at the end of the day.  Thus, you get the shitty light, wrinkled pants and jacket, and flatter-than-it-was-this-morning hair.

Pictures are blurry as all hell (thanks fog/rain/dreary clouds) and the umbrella is definitely not my accessory of choice, but as this is a real life blog...well, this was my real life ;)

Fellow OOTDers - who takes your pictures?  Yourself on a tripod or a friend/partner?  Do you tend to take them before heading out for the day, or after work/school?  Or, do you stockpile photoshoots on weekends and then post them later?  Please share your secrets, oh wise ones.

Emerald blazer: H&M (similar from Nordstrom) | Black sheer tiered tank: Target (similar from Urban Outfitters) | Black pants: H&M | Heels: Target  (similar from Bloomingdales)| Earrings: Francescas (similar from Target)

  2. Love. Love love love love! Favorite OOTD post ever! I love the umbrella, the blazer, and earrings, and just the natural look of it all. You are gorgeous! Do your neighbors ever question why you're taking pics of yourself outside? Not sure I'd have the guts to do that! haha

    1. YES! OMG the house across the street (you can see his fence in these pictures) has offered multiple times to take the shots for me. And my house is at the entrance, so there is a LOT of traffic on my road, since my house is the exact turning point into the rest of the neighborhood. I am sure they all think I am a complete idiot - I always stop posing and pretend to look busy when cars drive by ;)

    1. Lucky - my husband's first circle of hell is being in pictures - second level is taking them ;) So I try to not ask him, ha.

  4. I feel your pain. My hubby takes my photos, though I have attempted to use a tripod and remote and failed horribly. We both work from home, so we pick a day when we have stuff to do away from the office and shoot then. It rained all day yesterday, so we shot in the staircase of our apartment building. Not ideal, but we made it work :)

That green blazer is fabulous, and the perfect touch of color for an all-black outfit.

Found you via the I Feel Pretty linky!

  5. I have been seeing a lot of fashion posts with brightly colored blazers lately and now I really want one. The green really brightens your eyes, too!

  6. Gah! I was just at H&M not even two weeks ago, and I DID NOT see that blazer! Whhyyyyy?! Green is one of my favorite colors! Super sad face over here. It, of course, looks fantastic on you. Perhaps you can add it to your St. Patrick's Day outfit next month, eh? Earrings are perfect, too! Annnddd I see you were brave this day, and wore your wedding ring! Did it end up irritating you?

  20. I usually have marathon photo shoots for my outfit posts. If my mom or my sister is available, they take the pictures. However, I have been known to whip out the self-timer if I really love an outfit and no one is around to document the outfit.

I use my iphone for most of my OOTD pics and most of them are in the mirror in my work bathroom! haha!
