Trendy Tot Tuesday #1

I am SO excited to kick off our first week of Trendy Tot Tuesday!  I am a little disorganized this week, but will definitely have this down pat by next week ;)
-----------------
As much fun as it is to have a little girl and dress her up in dresses and bows, I often find myself shopping the boy's section.  There are some really great pieces there to balance all of the pink and frills in the girl's section, and some of my favorite outfits of Guinevere's are built around boy clothes!

Example 1:
The Chambray Shirt.

Chambray shirt: Old Navy (similar from Gap) | Sweater dress: Gap (similar) | Jeggings: Old Navy | Boots: Zulily (similar from Amazon)

I got this little chambray shirt in the boy's section at Old Navy, and it is still one of my favorite pieces.  I love it with red skinny jeans, with little tutu skirts, and open over a sweater and jeans.  My obsession with chambray shirts clearly has carried over to my kid.

Example 2:
The Kitschy Sweater.

Sweater: Target (similar idea, with a bee) | Jeggings: Old Navy | Leopard Flats: Target

Every blogger worth her salt has been sucked in by printed sweaters this year - stripes, polka dots, words, and characters - especially animals.  Old Navy had a fox sweater that I adored, but couldn't find anywhere, so when I saw this fox sweater in Guinevere's size at Target, I decided I could simply live through her.  The best part?  When she points at herself and announces "fox!"  Yes, you are, darling.

Example 3:
Sports Team Apparel.

Tracksuit: Goodwill | Jersey: Toys 'R Us | Red Boat Shoes: Target

I have this thing against pink NFL jerseys.  I can't explain it, they just irritate me - the whole point is to rock your team's colors!  So when I want to deck my kid out in Burgundy and Gold for Redskins games, I go to the boy's section.

  1. G is adorable as always! Love her {your} style! :)

I have a thing against the pink NFL jerseys too...it just annoys me that thousands of dollars are going towards dressing those men in pink accented jerseys, shoes, wrist bands, towels, etc, when all that money would be better spent going into research!

    1. To clarify, I have less hatred towards the breast cancer inspired ones - but many are NOT affiliated with breast cancer and are just pink and "pretty"! Those really bug me :)

  4. I'm so excited for this link up. I've got to get it together and join in. Guinevere is soooo cute - she and Campbell are twins in their little "fox" sweaters. They both wear it well! I also love her leopard flats - very stylish, just like mama!

  5. I hate the pink jerseys too! It's so annoying, and kind of insulting. Why can't women/girls just wear the normal team colors?!

  11. Oh my goodness this is too funny that you are talking about buying her clothes in the boys section! I recently bought some clothes from a girl who dresses her son SO cute.. and I bought a pair of old navy colored blue skinny jeans from her. Afterwards she told me that she buys most of her son's pants in the girls section because they don't sell colored skinny jeans for boys. Umm I'm definitely not telling my husband that! :) I'm your newest follower & I just love your daughters name!

  12. I buy almost all of Liv's button downs and plain hoodies for the little boys clearance at Target and NO ONE ever knows the difference! (unless you see that they button on opposite side!) I am SO glad you did this post because now other people will think outside the box!! :)

  13. How adorable is she. Is it sad that she has more style than me?

  14. I love her style! Especially because I keep telling myself that all my favorite pieces in Cruze's closet will be used again for a boy OR a girl. I always picture them with a bow and tights lol.
